Two of its most alarming behaviors are not faults at all - they are design decisions that nobody explains at handover. Knowing which is which saves a service call, and knowing the maintenance that actually matters saves a carburetor.

Why does my generator shut off when the fuel tank gets low?

The practical result is that the generator loses its fuel supply and shuts down while the dash gauge still shows something in the region of a quarter tank. It will start again and run fine once you add fuel. Nothing is broken.
